Building Your Own Pyramid: A Foundation for Life

Chapter 1: The Mystery of the Pyramids
Have you ever thought about constructing your own pyramid?
The Great Pyramid is composed of approximately 2.3 million blocks, each averaging between 2 to 15 tons in weight. Even today, the precise methods used to construct these monumental structures remain a mystery. It’s remarkable to consider that some of these blocks weigh hundreds of tons and are expertly positioned hundreds of feet in the air. Numerous studies have attempted to replicate the building of pyramids, consistently resorting to modern machinery and tools. Given our advanced technology in 2023, including lunar landings, artificial intelligence, and self-driving vehicles, why is it still unclear how these ancient structures were erected?
As you ponder this, consider applying such critical thinking to your own life.
Rene Descartes authored a pivotal work entitled “Meditation.” Depending on the edition, it spans about 100 pages, with half dedicated to guiding readers on how to interpret the text. This book profoundly influenced my thought process. Descartes systematically questions his beliefs in search of something irrefutable—a foundation upon which to build his entire philosophy and existence. Thus, we encounter the famous assertion “Cogito, ergo sum,” which translates to “I think, therefore I am.” This idea stands as an undeniable truth.
The resilience of the pyramids is astonishing; even after millennia, we still admire their grandeur and intrigue. Should we ever uncover the exact techniques used in their construction, it would enable us to replicate them almost anywhere. Why not apply this analytical mindset to our own lives? This sparked my initial reflection: why not scrutinize everything in my life to identify a solid foundation, making it applicable for anyone to construct their own metaphorical pyramid? This applies to individuals from all walks of life—be it a plumber, a CEO, a truck driver, or an Uber driver.
But how can one discover the foundational elements of their life? This isn't about generalized advice found in “10 steps to become wealthy” type of literature—most of which is often unhelpful and misleading, but that's a discussion for another time.
The foundation is vital as it must effectively support the weight of the entire structure. We need to assess the anticipated weight of our pyramid to determine the strength required for its foundation.
Our initial step will be to design our pyramid before its construction. We need to ascertain its height, the number of blocks, and the weight of each block that will comprise it. This series will guide you through this process, gradually assisting you in building your own pyramid.
