Chapter 1: The Unforeseen Opportunities of Writing on Medium

Engaging with an audience on Medium has opened doors I never anticipated. Initially, my goal was simply to share insights and experiences for the benefit of others, with little thought beyond attracting readers. Thus, I was genuinely surprised when a corporate partnerships manager from The Prince's Trust reached out to invite me to speak on a topic inspired by one of my earlier articles.

This opportunity revolved around my piece titled, "How I Saved 20 Working Days by Automating Routine Admin Tasks." As part of Learning Week in the UK, I was thrilled to participate as a guest speaker. While sharing a written story is quite different from delivering a talk or running a workshop, I embraced the challenge by developing an interactive session. This involved enhancing the original material and incorporating a small group activity.

It's crucial to put yourself out there, as you might inspire someone or provide value that resonates with others.

To prepare thoroughly, I conducted additional research to bolster my presentation. I collected relevant resources and supplementary reading materials for the audience, ensuring that the session was not only informative but also enjoyable and infused with humor.

Next month, I have the privilege of presenting a similar workshop for another national charity, Business in the Community. This experience is incredibly rewarding, and I feel honored to contribute in this way.

Furthermore, this allows me to refine my presentation and facilitation skills while engaging with a diverse audience.
