Now, let’s dive into the albums!
#21. *The Art of Falling Apart* (2021) — Serena Ryder I first encountered Serena Ryder through a collaboration with William Prince. After exploring her discography, I fell in love with this album. “Better Now” is my top pick; it’s a song I could listen to endlessly.
#22. *M.E.G.* (2014) – Samantha Gibb Samantha Gibb, daughter of the late Maurice Gibb from the Bee Gees, channels the essence of 90s female artists in her music. Choosing a favorite track was tough, but I ultimately leaned towards “When I’m with You.” I recommend enjoying the entire album.
#23. *Cowboys Live Forever, Outlaws Never Die* (2022) — Shaboozey Shaboozey is a unique voice in country music, fusing hip hop, rock, and Americana. I found this album enjoyable, particularly the track “My Love,” along with “Why Can’t Cowboys Cry?”
#24. *Skylar Grey* (2022) — Skylar Grey I first learned of Skylar Grey back in 2006 when she went by Holly Brook. Her haunting voice captivates me, especially in this self-titled album. “Falling Apart” resonates deeply with me, evoking an ethereal emotion.
#25. *Alannah Myles* (1989) — Alannah Myles This is an album I regret not hearing earlier. Alannah's powerful voice and vibrant energy shine, especially on “Just One Kiss,” which has become my go-to anthem for when I need a boost.
#26. *Horizontal* (1967) — Bee Gees This early Bee Gees album is a gem! It was hard to choose just one track, but I selected “And The Sun Will Shine,” featuring Robin’s distinct lead vocals that set them apart from bands like The Beatles.
#27. *Flavors of Entanglement* (2008) — Alanis Morissette Written post-breakup with Ryan Reynolds, this album features “Torch,” a poignant track where Alanis shares her feelings of loss. It’s a reminder of past heartaches, showcasing her ability to evoke deep emotions.
#28. *Dig* (2013) — Amythyst Kiah Amythyst’s voice reminds me of Tracy Chapman. This entire album is remarkable, featuring an excellent cover of Radiohead’s “Fake Plastic Trees.” I can’t wait to hear more from her.
#29. *O Proceder* (2017) – Gloria Groove Discovered through her single “A Queda,” Gloria Groove is a Brazilian singer and drag queen. Her debut album, O Proceder, captivated me, especially the track “Muleke Brasileiro.” For more about Gloria, check out this article from The Daily Rind.
#30. *Rito de Passá* (2019) – Mc Tha After listening to Gloria Groove, Spotify played a track by MC Tha, another Brazilian artist. I was immediately drawn to her music and loved the album Rito de Passá, particularly the track “Onda,” which makes me want to dance.
