Navigating Self-Awareness: Am I One of Those People?

Chapter 1: A Sleepless Night of Reflection
Dear Universe,
At 3 AM, sleep eludes me, and I find myself wrestling with the thought that I might belong to "those people." You know, the ones who can’t help but offer solutions instead of simply listening. Why is my instinct to jump in with advice or attempts to soothe? Is there anything wrong with wanting to help?
Just yesterday, I watched an enlightening video by Jessica Lee Depatie titled "Awaking: Initiation, Deep Self-Exploration, The 'Great Change' with Richard Rudd." He shared profound insights and moving narratives about human transformation that truly resonated with me.
Yet, amidst those enlightening moments, I couldn't shake off one of Richard's less emphasized remarks: "Be cautious not to become one of those," referring to individuals who seek to heal without truly listening.
Am I one of those individuals?
Recently, I have been striving to enhance my listening skills. I aim to be fully present and understand others' viewpoints without interruption, discerning whether they're merely venting or genuinely seeking advice. However, breaking these old habits takes time.
I recall countless instances when my sisters expressed their desire for someone to listen to them — without my instinctual urge to fix their problems, dispense advice, or offer healing. Despite their pleas, I always felt compelled to find a solution rather than simply hear their concerns.
During this introspection, an internal voice urged me to ask meaningful questions while holding them close to my heart, then to randomly open "the book."
The Universe responded, and I was both intrigued and amazed. This technique still works!
Years ago, I practiced this while reading "Conversations with God" by Neale Donald Walsch, and it was incredible how often I found the answers I was searching for, bringing me comfort and clarity.
These days, I find joy in deeply reading one of Richard Rudd's works, "The Gene Keys — Embracing Your Higher Purpose." To my astonishment, I randomly opened to page 275, which discusses the 35th Gift: "Adventure, The Only Progress is Love." This chapter took me on a journey through various layers of my psyche, leaving me in awe. Just like before, it provided the insight I needed.
What else could it be but Love? I've encountered this idea repeatedly. Love often serves as the solution to many of our dilemmas. It embodies acceptance, too.
I've come to understand that my urge to provide advice and alleviate others’ suffering stems from my own fear of being mired in pain. I've experienced that feeling more than enough times! Consequently, I prefer to confront my challenges swiftly and move forward, but that approach may not suit everyone else.
This newfound understanding enables me to embrace the emotions of others with kindness, compassion, and without judgment.
Allowing individuals to discover their own answers empowers them, fosters trust, and helps me evolve into a better listener.
Thank you, Universe, for this invaluable lesson! ❤
May our hearts remain light and illuminate the path,
Pati.
