However, there’s a flaw in this reasoning: truly successful individuals don’t necessarily follow the same morning rituals as the average person. Their unique lifestyles likely influence their routines. Yet, this does not invalidate the advantages that certain morning habits can provide.
Many high achievers, like self-help guru Tony Robbins, advocate for morning rituals. Robbins’ "Hour of Power" includes breathing exercises, physical activity, affirmations, gratitude, and goal setting. Starting your day with small accomplishments, like making your bed, can set a positive tone for the hours ahead.
While exploring various morning routines this year, I’ve discovered that mine may not be as sensational as those touted by social media influencers or billionaires. In fact, many of these articles aren’t authored by billionaires themselves, and recent laws in France aim to curb deceptive practices by influencers. Thus, it’s wise to approach these narratives with skepticism.

Routine 1: The Standard Morning
My first morning routine is rather mundane but essential. My alarm rings at 6:45 AM after about six hours of sleep. I rise, freshen up, and head downstairs. My initial tasks include feeding the cat, cleaning up, brewing coffee for my wife, and preparing her breakfast. After she’s fed and ready for work, I take a moment to reflect on my day, usually for five minutes.
Once she leaves, I wake my daughters by 7:45 AM and prepare their breakfast. I often find myself counting down the minutes until we need to leave for school. After walking them to school, I return home to either make a meal replacement shake or a full breakfast, depending on my fitness goals.
In a full-time job with family responsibilities, routines are crucial. While they may not attract social media attention, they are vital for maintaining order in daily life.
Routine 2: The Energizing Start
Routine two is quite similar but starts earlier at 6:00 AM. After my morning hygiene, I head out for a three-and-a-half-mile run, which takes about thirty minutes. During this time, I mentally review my goals and plan for the day. Upon returning, I stretch and shower, ensuring I take care of my body without resorting to ice baths, which can hinder muscle growth.
The sound of the shower often rouses my wife, and the rest of the routine unfolds as usual.
Does It Really Matter?
Adhering to routine two requires me to sleep by midnight, which can be challenging, especially while maintaining a calorie-restricted diet to keep my weight in check. However, I’ve noticed tangible benefits: after running, I feel accomplished, and the stretching I do makes my day more comfortable.
Although my knees sometimes ache after consistent running, I adjust my workout routine to prevent strain. I find that routine two enhances my fitness and sharpens my focus on my goals.
A vital component of my second routine is my "focus sheet," where I list my objectives for the year and daily tasks to achieve them. Each time I complete a goal, I remove it from the list, which is immensely satisfying.
While routine two certainly boosts my fitness, the most significant difference comes from reading my focus sheet aloud daily. This simple act keeps my objectives at the forefront of my mind and drives me to take necessary steps toward achieving them.
Incorporating a focus sheet into your routine could be the single change that enhances your life. If you consistently remind yourself of your goals and take action towards them, you will steer your life in a more intentional direction.
Ultimately, your morning routine should be tailored to your needs, efficiently accomplishing the tasks at hand. Adding exercise is a bonus, as it can improve your health and instill a sense of discipline that carries into the rest of your day.
